Indians roster starting to take form

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Indians general manager Mark Shapiro told reporters Wednesday in Goodyear, Ariz., that reliever Jensen Lewis, outfielder Michael Brantley, infielder Andy Marte and catcher Lou Marson had made the club’s opening-day roster.

The GM also hinted that veterans Mark Grudzielanek (infielder), Austin Kearns (outfielder) and Jamey Wright (relief pitcher) would break camp with the team.

Outfielder Trevor Crowe and catcher Wyatt Toregas were optioned to Triple-A Columbus and left-hander Jeremy Sowers was outrighted to Columbus. Sowers will have to clear waivers before accepting the Triple-A bid.

It looks as though Brantley and Kearns will split the duties in left field to start the season.
