Weekend Basketball on WEOL

It was a grand weekend for high school sports on AM930 WEOL. To hear any of the games on demand, click on the scores.

Firelands ClearviewOn Friday night the Clearview Clippers got back in the win column with a 81-66 Patriot Athletic Conference win over Firelands.  Leading by nine points in the second half the Clippers pulled away from the Falcons behind Deuce Martin’s 18 point night. Firelands Colin Myers paced the Falcons with with 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss. The win advances Clearview to 12-3 on the season. In the PAC, the Clippers are now 9-1. The loss drops the Falcons to 6-9 overall and  5-4 in the conference.

 

Saturday afternoon was a big girls game in the Southwestern Conference and a big day for our listeners. Behind the mic for Saturday’s call on AM930 along with our own Tim Alcorn was NBA Hall-of-Fame Broadcaster Joe Tait. As you can see, it was an exciting day for everyone involved.

Amherst Avona Lake Final

 

Before the pictures were taken and the celebration ensued for the Amherst Comets they got the job done on the court defeating Avon Lake 42-34. Sydney Roule lead the Comets in the win with a 13 point game. Despite the loss, the Shoregales Sarah Hessel was equally impressive posting 13 points.

 

Keystone Vermilion Final

On Saturday night, Vermilion edged out Keystone in a 56-48 non-conference win. The Sailors kept the Wildcats at arms length knocking down 18-of-22 free throws in the contest. Joby Pfeil led the Sailors in scoring with 22 points. In the loss, Austin Conrad posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The win is the Sailors 10th in their last 16 games. The loss, was just the fifth for the Wildcats, they are now 11-5 overall.
