3 charged for theft from Kohl’s; women charged for involving teen

LORAIN — Two woman and a teen girl are facing theft charges, and the two women also face charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for setting a poor example for the teen after they attempted to shoplift at Kohl’s in Lorain late last week, according to a police report.

Amber Rodriguez, 19, of Lorain and Ashley Vinovich, 21, of Avon Lake are both charged with theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A 14-year-old Lorain girl is charged with theft.

According to the report, the trio went into Kohl’s on Thursday and selected items, which they took into a changing room. Once in the changing room, they concealed items under their clothes and in a backpack on a wheelchair Rodriguez is confined to.

A store loss-prevention officers recovered a shirt and shorts from the three. Vinovich told him she was still wearing a bikini bathing suit bottom underneath her clothes and gave him the keys to a car where she had stashed the bikini bathing suit top. The clothes they are accused of stealing total $68 in value, the report said.

According to the report, Rodriguez told officers she could not go to jail because she is in a wheelchair and bragged about being “the female that was shot in the back while breaking into vehicles in Avon several months prior.”

All three were given court summons, and the teen was picked up by her mother, the report said.
