LifeFlight called in for Vermilion-area accident overnight

A man was LifeFlighted from the scene of a one-vehicle crash in the Vermilion area overnight, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The man, who the patrol did not identify, was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger westbound on North Ridge Road near Vermilion Road at 12:52 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the patrol. He went off the road, striking a guard rail, four street signs and a tree, according to the patrol.

He was LifeFlighted from the scene to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The vehicle was owned by Walter D. Mey of Wakeman, according to the patrol. It was not known if Mey was the driver.

Vermilion police, the Vermilion Fire Department and NorthCentral EMS also responded.
