Once a month, the WEOL Morning Show checks in with the Community Foundation of Lorain County! From COVID-19 support to scholarship opportunities, the Community Foundation does it all!

January:

Britt Lovett from the Community Foundation of Lorain County stopped by to discuss a handful of things, such as this month’s Neighbor Night as well as availability for scholarship applications!

February:

Laura Malone from the Community Foundation of Lorain County made her monthly visit and talked about upcoming scholarship opportunities as well as the 2022 Lorain County Toni Morrison Essay contest! To find out more, visit their website HERE!

March:

Laura Malone from the Community Foundation of Lorain County joined the guys on this St. Patrick’s Day to talk about the deadline for local non-profits to get involved with their “Connect to a Cause” program.

April:

The third Thursday of the month means it’s to focus on the Community Foundation on WEOL! Development Officer Laura Malone returned to the show to talk about the May 20th Nonprofit Marketing Seminar, Connect to a Cause Business Champions, Humans of Lorain County, and grant applications!

May:

Joining us this month was Development Officer Laura Malone! Laura shared a ton of upcoming events and happenings with the Community Foundation, including:

  • Two new pass-through funds
  • Community Foundation of Lorain County Grants Webinar on Zoom (June 2nd)
  • Annual meeting from 11am to 1pm at the Elyria Performing Arts Center (June 15th)

June:

Stopping by this month was Development Officer Laura Malone, who discussed the foundation giving their largest grant in history in the amount of $1 million to the Mental Health, Addiction, and Recovery Services Board of Lorain County! Laura shared some info on what the money will be used for as well as how these grant dollars came to be.

July:

Laura Malone returned to the show to talk about the Imagination Library as they try to reach 10,000 new child registrations by the end of August. Plus, Laura encouraged listeners to come to Neighbor Night, happening TONIGHT (July 21st) at the Harrison Cultural Center! Don’t forget to join the Lorain and Women’s Leadership Network next month on August 11th for an evening of conversation at Lakeview Park’s Sunset Terrace.

August:

Development Officer Laura Malone called in to talk about the latest from the organization, including August being National Make-A-Will month! Plus, we’re less than 30 days away from Connect to a Cause!

September:

Laura Malone stopped by to talk about Connect to a Cause, which is a 12-hour virtual fundraising campaign looking to help local non-profits here in Lorain County! Check out their website at peoplewhocare.org, or call (440)-984-7390 for more information on donations and how you can get involved.

October:

Marketing and Communications Officer Britt Lovett stopped by to discuss the current grant cycles for both the Youth fund Service Learning Grant and the African American Community Fund. Plus, Britt recapped how this year’s Connect to a Cause event went!

November:

Laura Malone from the Community Foundation of Lorain County discussed year-end giving and the monthly Neighborhood Nights that the foundation helps organize to bring community and ideas together in an informal setting.

December:

 Laura Malone from the Community Foundation of Lorain County made her usual third-Thursday-of-the-month visit with the guys as she talked about their 2023 Scholarship Application officially opening today before closing on March 2nd, 2023. Plus, you can join the Community Foundation for a sugar rush! Stop by the Community Foundation any day during the last week of the year from 3-5pm for sweet treats, good company, and delightful conversation.
