12/7/22 7:20 There’s both development and demolition happening in Elyria, so what’s the latest? Plus, the city of Avon continues to grow, as does their need for police officers. All that, and more, as Dave O’Brien of The Chronicle-Telegram joined our own Rocco Nuosci for this week’s Local Beat, presented by Vandemark Jewelers on East Broad Street in Elyria, a trusted name in jewelry! 12/7/22 7:40 Lots of students struggle with being “labelled”. As a result, many feel unheard and unrepresented, holding them back from believing in themselves and their own potential. A new initiative called “More Than” from First, a global nonprofit robotics community, hopes to change this by showing kids that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) can be a source of empowerment. It features accomplishments of Alyssa Carson, space enthusiast and former First participant, joined the guys with Raytheon Systems Engineer Fazlul Zubair to talk about the campaign and how STEM kids can shed their labels and promote self-esteem. 12/7/22 8:10 Friend of the show Colleen Walts from the United Way of Greater Lorain County stopped by to recap the Zero Proof Mix Off from last week, plus, their continued need for volunteers to help with their free tax prep program! (10:42)
