Look familiar? These toys were made in Lorain. The Mascon Toy Co. began in January 1965. It was originally the Steel Stamping Co. In 1971 it was estimated that it made about 50 different plastic toys for preschoolers. It operated at 3553 Broadway until December 1974. See these and more at the Vintage Toy Exhibition at the Lorain County History Center, December 3, 2013 through January 31, 2014.
The Lorain County Historical Society (LCHS) will feature a Vintage Toy Exhibition, featuring a selection of approximately 30 vintage toys from the LCHS collection as well as from some private collections. Enjoy seeing some of the types of toys you played with as a child, or see the items Grandma and Grandpa were thrilled to receive in years gone by! There will be a “hands-on” area with reproduction vintage toys for visitors to enjoy playing with. This exhibition is included with admission to the Lorain County History Center. Admission: adults $5; ages 13-18, $3; children 6-12, $2. Under six and LCHS members are free. The Lorain County History Center is located at 284 Washington Avenue, Elyria, OH 44035.
