On April 8 and 9 Elyria High Senior Rosetta Shepherd will travel to Troy, Michigan to compete against Boys and Girls Clubs youth for the State Regional Youth of the Year title. Her competition will include club members from Ohio’s  Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Massillon, Orrville, Sandusky, and Toledo chapters as well as Michigan’s Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Holland, and Lansing chapters.

Shepherd earned the chance to compete for the State Regional Youth of the Year title by claiming the Lorain County Youth of the Year award back on Feb. 29. The Elyria High Senior was chosen based on her excellent three minute speech about her personal life and how the Club has affected her. She received many recommendations from her teachers, Club staff, and mentors on her Leadership, Character & Service, Healthy Lifestyle, and Academic Excellence. She also received the highest marks for her 3 required essays about her “Club Experience”, “My Vision of America’s Youth”, and “My Personal Brand”.
