After 20 years at the helm of the Firelands girls basketball program, head coach Dave Kudela is on to other adventures. Todd Shapiro of The Chronicle-Telegram broke the story over the weekend.
“I decided to step away from coaching and some of my other duties as the site manager and spend some more time at home with my wife and spend more time with my children and my grandkids,” Kudela said. “It seemed like it was a good time to walk away and start the next phase.”
Kudela has spent 27 years as a head coach. Seven of those came as the Avon boys basketball head coach from 1992-99. He finishes his head coaching career with a record of 310-283.
