7:20am – Christmas can be one of the loneliest times of the year especially for older adults without family. Loneliness now affects more than 8 million older adults. AARP Foundation President Lisa Marsh Ryerson talked about the growing epidemic.

2016 Zero Proof Mix Off

zero-proffThe 15th Annual Zero-Proof Mix-Off will take place tonight at the Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. WEOL will be in attendance and will bring you live updates from 5pm to 7pm.

The event will feature 21 delicious non-alcoholic drinks concocted by local business and organizations.  There will be live music and prizes handed out through out the night. There is no admission fee, so come have a free, delicious, safe evening at the 15th Annual Zero-Proof Mix-Off at LCCC’s Spitzer Conference Center.

On Friday and Satruday we tip-off the Boys high school basketball season with two great tournaments. On AM930 and WEOL.com Stream 1 you can hear the DiFranco Tournament live from Midview High School. Play opens up on Friday night at 5:30pm with Keystone vs Elyria Catholic. Following that game we will immediately air game two of the tournament,Columbia vs Midview. On Saturday we return to Midview High School for the Consolation game at 5:30pm followed by the DiFranco Tournament Championship starting around 7:30pm. vermilion-for-frontFriday and Saturday on WEOL.com Stream 2 we bring you the Vermilion Tip-Off. This years tournament will open on Friday night at 5:30pm with Oberlin and Hawken. Friday’s second game will feature Vermilion vs Brookside. Both games will air back-to-back. Saturday we travel back Vermilion for the continuation of the Tip-Off Tournament. The consolation game will begin at 5:30pm with the championship to be decided following that. All the games of the Vermilion Tip-Off can be heard live by clicking on the image on the left.

7:20am – Medicine is ever evolving. Today, we have the ability to test cancer cells and use specific treatments to target the disease. Dr. Balazs Halmos, Director of Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology, told us about the importance of testing in advanced lung cancer treatment, including new options, such as non-invasive tests that use blood samples instead of tissue biopsies.

8:40am – The city of North Ridgeville will be hosting their annual Holiday on the Ridge this Saturday. Spokesperson Marjorie Snyder told us about the events that will take place during the festive day.
