Lorain County Girls Holiday Tournament

LCGHT for postThis Friday night WEOL opens up the high school basketball season live from Lorain High School for the 2016 Lorain County Girls Holiday Tournament. Four teams will battle to be crowned this years champion. Join us as we tip off the season with Keystone vs Elyria Catholic Friday at 6:00pm. That game will be followed by Strongsville vs Lorain around 7:30pm. The fun will continue on Saturday as we return to Lorain High School for the consolation and championship games. Pregame will begin at 5:30pm on Saturday night with the consolation match-up, then at 7:30pm we tip-off the title game. All the games can be heard this Friday and Saturday on AM930 and right here on WEOL.com. To hear the games live online, click on the image above.

High School Wrestling Preview Show

Wrestling Previw for postLet’s hit the mats!  On Monday, Nov. 28 the WEOL brings you the best High School Wrestling Preview Show in Lorain County. Join us live at the Brew Kettle in Amherst (300 Church Street) or listen on AM930 and WEOL.com from 6pm – 9pm. WEOL’s  Tim Alcorn and the CT’s Shaun Bennett will talk with area wrestling coaches about the year ahead. On Monday, Nov. 28th come out to the Brew Kettle in Amherst and enjoy great food and beverages while hearing from the wrestling coaches of Lorain County.

7:20am – Diabetes is a leading cause of new cases of blindness in people age 20-74. This morning Dr. Michael Cooney let us know more about diabetic eye disease and how it is affecting 29 million people in the United States.

7:40amKatie Bevan and Kat Evers of the United Way of Greater Lorain County stopped by the station this morning to let us know about the upcoming Zero Proof Mix-Off next Thursday.

8:10am – On Dec. 2 the National Museum of the Great Lakes will screen a documentary about the WWII on the Great Lakes in Lakewood. This morning we learned more about the film and the museum with executive director Chris Gillcrist.

8:40amVenessa Klesta of the Lorain County Metro Parks told Bruce and Craig about the holiday themed trails and displays being presented by the Metro Parks this year.

7:40am – Game Worn author Stephen Wong told us about his new book and the game worn uniforms that have shaped America’s pastime.

8:10amDr. David Spigel, chief scientific officer and director of the Lung Cancer Research Program at Sarah Cannon Research Institute, taught us about Lung Cancer and how new studies that have allowed for better treatment of the disease.

8:40am – Browns are still looking for their first win after falling to Pittsburgh on Sunday. This morning we spoke with the Chronicle Telegram’s Scott Petrak about the current state of Cleveland’s football team.

Extra – On Friday, the Second harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio welcomed in politician’s to help pack food packages for those in need. While there our own Craig Adams spoke with Julie Chase Morefield, executive director of the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
