8:20am –  Horticulturist Charles Behnke came by this morning to help us prep our plants for the winter ahead.

On Tuesday, University Hospitals broke ground on their new multi-million dollar hospital that will be opening in North Ridgeville. WEOL News Director Craig Adams was at the event and captured some of the day’s speakers.

7:40am – The 19th Annual L’Amour du Vin benefiting the Arthritis Foundation takes place next Thursday, Oct. 6. During the event attendees will enjoy great food from Lorain county’s finest restaurants and delicious wines from around the world. This morning spokesperson Darby Schwartz told us more about the event.

Week 6 Football on WEOL

This week we bring your three high school football games on Friday night and one more on Saturday.

Keystone BrOur radio Kolczun & Kolczun Gridiron Clash Friday night sees Keystone at Black River. The Wildcats enter the opening game of Patriot Athletic Conference Stars Division play having won their last four games. Firelands BrooksideThe Kolczun and Kolczun Gridiron Clash on line also features a pair PAC Stars Division opponents as Firelands travels to Brookside. The Cardinals enter week six coming off of their first win of the year over Lutheran West. In the victory, sophomore quarterback Jonathan Hice rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 99 more. The Firelands Falcons have been red hot since their week one loss to Edison. One of the main reasons for their success has been the running game led by running back Nick Denney. Last week on just 11 touches, the junior ball carrier went for 128 yards and three touchdowns. Medina BrunswickThis weeks Tri-C Medina County Match-Up sees Medina on the road at Brunswick for a Greater Cleveland Conference bout. The Bee’s were tested early last week against Strongsville, but they still managed to be frequent visitors of the endzone as they pulled away from the Mustangs for a 42-23 win. The Brunswick Blue Devils fell to Elyria in week five but managed to out score the Pioneers in the second half 21-7. Elyria ShakerOn Saturday, we return to WEOL.com Stream 2 for a weekend edition of the Kolczun & Kolczun Gridiron Clash as Elyria takes on Shaker Heights in our second GCC match-up of the weekend. With their backs against the wall, the Elyria Pioneers put up an impressive four fist half touchdowns last week against Brunswick in a 34-21 win. The Raiders stand one game above .500 with a record of 3-2. In the past five weeks, Shaker has averaged 26 points a game while giving up 23 points a game.
