He covered the very first Lorain International Festival 50 years ago. Today, former Morning Journal writer Alec Van Ryan returned to the Lorain International Festival Breakfast as the keynote speaker. Before he addressed the audience he spoke with our own Bruce VanDyke.

It was a big weekend for the Cleveland Indians who swept away the Chicago White Sox. Tribe VP of Communications Bob DiBiasio talks more about the Indians home winning streak.

In just a few days, Lorain County Community College President Dr. Roy Church will begin his retirement. Taking over as the head of the school will be Dr. Marcia Ballinger. Today, both Presidents of LCCC sat down with WEOL’s Craig Adams.

Lorain International Festival Duck Derby

The Lorain International Festival is officially underway, and this year the event will feature the festivals first ever Duck Derby. On Sunday, June 26, nearly 5,000 rubber ducks will work their way down the Black River. Prizes for the best finishes in the race are worth $1,000, $500 and $250. The cost to adopt a single duck is $5 with deals as your purchase more. Ducks can be purchased either online at www.duckrace.com or in person at the Lorain International Festival. Proceeds from the race go to the International Festival and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lorain.
