Scholastic Games of Lorain County: Avon Battles Elyria Catholic

This week brought us another edition of the Scholastic Games of Lorain County, presented by the Elyria Public Library System!

This week, the academic team from Avon battled the academic team from Elyria Catholic in a quarterfinal matchup!

Lorain Esports Team Punches Ticket to State Tournament

From Lorain Athletic Director Bryan Koury:

The Lorain High Esports team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University on Sunday, April 6, 2025 as the #1 seed in the OHSAA Regional Tournament. Being the top seed, the team earned a bye for the first round. In the semifinal, the team swept Brecksville Broadview Heights by scores of 13-6 and 13-0. The team then faced a very good opponent in New Tech West in the Regional Final and came out victorious by scores of 13-5 and 13-7. The team will now compete in the OHSAA State Tournament on April 26 and 26 at the University of Akron.

Divisions I, II and III Girls Basketball All-Ohio Teams Announced

The 2025 Divisions I, II, and III girls basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Tuesday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. See below for all of our local Lorain County athletes who received honors. For the complete list of athletes, click here.

Division II

Third Team: Jesse Simon (Olmsted Falls)

Special Mention: Maddie Cerovac (Olmsted Falls)

Honorable Mention: Alaina Pagan (Avon), Emma Shaefer (Olmsted Falls)

Division III

Second Team: Leah DiFranco (Midview)

Special Mention: Olivia Miller (Avon Lake)

Hallie Schroeder Named New Elyria Volleyball Head Coach

Elyria has a new head volleyball coach! Congratulations to Hallie Schroeder, a 2017 Avon graduate, as she gets set to take over the Pioneer volleyball program!
