Clearview moves on in Scholastic Games of Lorain County

Clearview Team:
Sierra Hitchens: Nathaniel Suprun: Thomas Rivera

The Clearview Clippers advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Scholastic Games of Lorain County on Tuesday night with at 290-230 victory over Brookside.

The Clearview team consisting of Sierra Hitchens, Thomas Rivera and Nathaniel Supurn got out to an early 40 point lead going 5 for 5 on questions in the first round.

After both teams nailed perfect scores in the Current Events Round, the Clippers added 20 points to their lead in round three.

Despite trailing by 120 points going into the final round, the Brookside team consisting of Dakota Rabineau, Lucia Morello and Kassie Brooks mounted a comeback outscoring Clearview by 60 points in the final stanza.

Though a valiant effort, it came to late as the Clippers held on for the win, and team captain Nathaniel Suprun was awarded the Standout Scholar Award.

Scholastic Games of Lorain County: North Ridgeville vs Clearview

On the Tuesday the regular season of the Scholastic Games of Lorain County came to an end when the North Ridgeville team made up of Aidan Cunningham, Jonah Fechner and Emily Hiles, defeated the  Clearview team consisting of Tahj Alkassem, Camryn Milburt and Nathaniel Suprun by a score of 290-250.

The Rangers picked up the early lead with a perfect first round and carried a ten point advantage all the way into the third round.

In the multi-clue round North Ridgeville pulled away from the Clippers hitting a big 30 point clue early on and coming up with correct answer to a few 20 point clues.

The Rangers entered the final round with forty point advantage which they were able to hold on to.

Despite the loss, Clearview’s Nathaniel Suprun won the Standout Scholar Award.

The Scholastic Games enter the playoffs next week on WEOL with the first wildcard match-up between Clearview and Brookside.
