Scholastic Games of Lorain County Presented by the Elyria Public Library System: Olmsted Falls vs Avon Lake

On Monday, March 4th, the defending champion Olmsted Falls academic team represented by Nick Gaba, Sam Gray and Ben Meredyk defeated the Avon Lake squad

consisting of Natalie Miller, Irwin Deng and Connor NcNeill.

Olmsted Falls took the early lead ending the current events round with a 100-70 advantage.

In the third round, both teams matched answers allowing Olmsted Falls to maintain its 30 point advantage entering the final round. The Bulldog’s Ben Meredyk set the tone early in the final stanza scoring his team a quick 60 points on the first two questions. He would end the round with 100 points total giving his team the 480-330 win and earning this week’s Stand out Scholar Award .

Scholastic Games of Lorain County: Elyria defeats Columbia

During The Feb. 25th edition of the Scholastic games of Lorain County, the Elyria High team (represented by Matthew Carson, Garrett Worden and John Schuman) topped the Columbia team (represented by Annie Sprinkle, Matthew Dixon and Jackson Ives) by a score of 430 – 130.

Elyria held just a 20 point lead going into the final round, but was able to pull away with the help of Schuman who answered two fifty point questions in the finale earning the  Student Scholar Award.
