Water has stopped flowing after main break near Lakeview Park

LORAIN — A water main break at West 11th Street and Parkview Avenue in Lorain resulted in “quite a bit of water” in the roadway for several hours, according to Linda O’Connor from the city Water Department.

The West 11th and Parkview intersection is on the southeast side of Lakeview Park.

No roads were shut down completely, and there was no boil alert, O’Connor said a little before 6 a.m. Later calls to the Lorain Water Distribution Department have not yet been returned.

They were trying to isolate the break, O’Connor said, and cones were set up to help people avoid the water.

The water gushed had been gushing since at least 4:30 a.m., according to Lori Riegel-Kapalin, who lives on West 12th just east of Parkview.

“The water is gushing out, and the streets are flooding,” said Riegel-Kapalin, who used Facebook to warn parents of Lakeview School students to use a different way to school.

The water finally stopped gushing at 8:45 a.m., she said, adding that there were red bricks all over the street and the park where the water had been.
