Columbus Blue Jackets Playoff Preview

Columbus Blue Jackets insider and Lorain native Jeff Svaboda joined Bull’s Eye on the Afternoon to talk about the Jacket’s return to the NHL bubble. Jeff outlined how CBJ can knock off the Toronto Maple Leafs in their opening playoff series!

Play Their Style

The main key for the Jackets is being able to play their style. John Tortorella’s bunch play a much slower, “grindier” style than Toronto. Slow-tempo games with lower scoring numbers will certainly favor Columbus moving forward in this series.

“It’s the third highest scoring team against the third best defensive team”, said Svaboda. “Whichever team wins that battle and gets the game to be played in their style is going to win”. Toronto’s scoring average sits at 3.4 goals per contest while the Jackets allow an average of just 2.67 goals per night.

Svaboda mentioned that one of the main focuses the past two weeks for the Jackets has been trying to rediscover their identity as a team. Jeff says that’s easier said than done, but Cam Atkinson and friends seem up to the challenge.
