8:10am – The city of Elyria is celebrating its bicentennial this year. In honor of the big celebration the Lorain Historical Society is helping teach the history of the city to the youngsters. This morning the Elyria School’s Amy Keir and the Lorain County Historical Society’s Anne Michael came by the show to tell us all about the city’s history and how they are teaching the city’s youth about it.

7:20amTony Gallo kicked off the annual Lorain County Chamber of Commerce meeting yesterday by talking about the futures of business in Lorain County.

8:20am – Every year on Feb. 2 thousands of people make their way to Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to see if Phil the groundhog can predict winters end. This morning we learned how the process and celebration come together with Punxsutawney Phil’s handler Ron Ploucha.

8:40am – Make your way to Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday Dinner, a fundraising event being held by the Amherst Historical Society. This morning event spokesperson Kathy Dean-Dielman and Abe Lincoln himself (Charlie Marty) told us more about the dinner and entertainment that is being planned.

8:50am – The Lorain County Metro Parks has been hard at work in 2017. At yesterday’s Loran County Chamber of Commerce meeting Jim Ziemnik talked about what the LCMP has planed for the year.

 

Elyria History Storyboard

In honor of Elyria’s Bicentennial, the Elyria Schools are working with the Lorain County Historical Society on traveling Elyria History storyboards. The boards will travel about the district, spending a week in each of the area schools, and giving children a snapshot of local history.

Along with the boards, the Elyria Schools and Lorain County Historical Society have created the video below to introduces the storyboards to children.
