Elyria Catholic High School’s pitcher Jack Laird (14) celebrates a strikeout

The Elyria Catholic Panthers defeated the Bay Rockets 3-1 in Thursday night’s WEOL Baseball Diamond Duel.

Bay got out to the early lead posting a run in the opening stanza, However, EC pitcher Jack Laird found his stride a short time later allowing just two hits the rest of the way and striking out 13 batters.

Helping out his own cause, Laird belted a two run homer in the fourth inning to help Elyria Catholic claim a 3-1 Great Lakes Conference win.

On Thursday, April 18th the WEOL Morning Show and Bull’s Eye on the Afternoon shined the Spotlight on Avon.

During the morning, Bruce Van Dyke and Craig Adams spoke with Mayor Bryan Jensen, Ashley Luke of the Duct Tape Festival, and Avon Schools Superintendent Mike Laub along with Brad Calabrese, and Tom LaMotte of University Hospitals

During the Afternoon, Andy and Matt learned more about University Hospitals with Day Spa Manager and UH Membership Services Dana Doheny, ER Manager Mary Birch and Physicians Jennifer Carrandang and Shelia Rice.
