Restored Wins for the Buckeyes?

Remember Terrelle Pryor? The former Ohio State standout was electric in his three seasons in Columbus, punishing defenses with both his arm and legs. In his final season in 2010, he led the Big Ten Conference in passing touchdowns.

His Buckeye career came to an abrupt halt, however, as Pryor and four teammates were caught exchanging memorabilia for tattoos. NCAA sanctions came down hard on the Buckeyes as Ohio State had to vacate numerous wins and records. Now, the “Tattoo 5” want those wins and records back. Pryor took to social media to share his thoughts on the matter.

With NCAA athletes now allowed to benefit from their name, image, and likeness, Pryor and friends want to see some retroactive action here. “Now that they finally have the freedom to share in some of the millions of dollars in revenue they generate for their coaches, their institutions, their conferences, and the NCAA as a whole, we would like to see our hard won accomplishments reinstated”.

Will this move from Pryor and others work? Will the NCAA award the Buckeyes back those wins?

Ramírez, Bieber Named All-Stars for Indians

It’s been a tough past week or so for our Cleveland Indians. Two guys should be feeling good though, and they are José Ramírez and Shane Bieber. Both were selected as All-Stars for the American League on Sunday afternoon for the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. It is José’s third trip to the game while Shane will be making his second appearance after earning MVP honors in front of a home crowd in 2019.

So far, Ramírez is batting .268 with 51 RBI’s, 18 home runs, and 18 doubles to his credit. Bieber, currently shelved with a shoulder injury, is 7-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 games this season. There’s still no clear timetable for when Shane will return.

As the All-Star Break creeps closer, it’s good to see a some bright spots on this team that is currently decimated by injuries. Perhaps some time away from the daily grind will do the entire roster some good. For now, Cleveland is hoping for a strong finish to the first half of the season, while the two All-Stars are hoping for a safe, fun, and relaxing time in Colorado.
